I remember as a child, everyone loved to eat my mom’s cheesecake. As an eight year old boy, I don’t think I even liked cheesecake, but I was intrigued at how it brought people together. Even at that young age, I realized that people hung out longer after dinner if you had a great dessert to follow. If the coffee was good and the dessert was good, you had the perfect combination for some great personal connection.

It may seem cliché but dessert really is therapeutic. Often people stop by with all kinds of challenges in their lives, but once the coffee is on and that piece of cheesecake is plated, those emotional walls start to come down. Be sure to save room for dessert, and stick around just a little while longer. – Chef Sam
